It is finished

“It is finished, it is finished,” Jesus cried, “It is finished.” His suffering was over, the sacrifice complete, the battle victoriously won. No more crying, no more pain, no longer separated from His Father in heaven. Home at last, seated at the Father’s side, unspeakable joy, as the angels saw Jesus triumphant return to glory.

Yes, there was joy in the Father’s heart at His Son’s return, His loving arm around His Son, saying, “Well done.” “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”

For this will herald the return of God’s dear chosen ones, triumphantly into God’s kingdom. Through the sacrifice of God’s own dear Son, whose precious blood was poured out for them. Yes, dear Christian, Jesus is saying, “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hath given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world,” {St John17: 24}.
