How shall Christian brothers and sisters know that you need prayer if you don’t tell them? We need collective prayer for sickness, finance and family problems etc, yet many of us today will just continue to struggle on, believing that we can do it alone.
You know there is an old saying, no man is an island. In the Bible it tells us to pray for one another, and if two or three people come into agreement it shall be done, yet still we suffer in silence. St. Matthew 18:19, “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
A few years ago when my health was failing, I would do all that I could to get my health back, calling for the elders of the church to come and anoint me with oil, asking many Christians to pray for me, also requesting anointed prayer cloths. Yes, getting God’s people to pray for me continually, knowing that the prayers of the saints were being received up in heaven, as a mighty voice ringing in the ears of God my Father, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Often we read in the Bible that we are to pray for one another, yet how can we receive prayer if we keep all of our troubles to ourselves? The enemy laughs at us when we try to go it alone, for he knows that a rope made up from many cords is not easily broken. So he will continually tell you keep your troubles to yourself.
Jesus said that we are a body, and we cannot operate alone, we need each other. Jesus likened us to a human body, it has different functions but they all need each other.
So you may need prayer today, then go and tell a brother and a sister in the Lord. Not a detailed description, but an outline description, so that they would know roughly what to pray for, but you must make sure that the Christians who you ask for prayer are people of faith, who will stand with you believing for your healing and deliverance.
Then the prayer of the saints will rise up like a mighty crescendo to God your Father, and you will be obedient to the words of Jesus by operating as the true body of Christ. This is surely a mighty way of receiving the answer to your need today, whatever it is.
James 5:13-16, “Is any among you afflicted? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins; they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” .
Soon this life will pass, only what is done for Christ will last.
