ST GEORGE CHURCH TROTTON WEST SUSSEX ANCIENT WALL PAINTINGS.
This is what the early churches in England used to look like. It is strange to think that these wall painting are over six hundred years old. The early Church wasn’t afraid to preach heaven and hell as it really is.
The paintings were covered up with white wash in the Reformation and only discovered in 1904.
Be Careful How You Speak
The Bible says in Proverbs 18 v 21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
We must watch what we say, we all know how easy it is to gossip, be negative, talk of bad depressing things, run down people and be critical.
If we talk like this we will become bitter, depressed and unhappy. But, if we talk of good things we feel happy, joyful, our spirits rise, our whole attitude to life changes for the good. If we try to talk positively we will not only help ourselves, but will encourage other people as well.
Proverbs 12 v 18 says, “The tongue of the wise is health.” So, if we watch our tongues we will be healthy, happy and wise. So, it is very important to talk of good, lovely, encouraging things.
Jesus says in Matthew 12 v 36 & 37, “But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
If you find watching what you say hard, then ask Jesus to help you. There is nothing too hard for the Lord, if we ask Him sincerely. We really need to stop our tongues from speaking negatively, as this also affects our faith.
When we are standing on God’s word, the more negative we are, the more our faith goes down, and the harder it is to stand firm until deliverance arrives. But, the more positive we are, our faith rises and victory is sure. Proverbs says, “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life.” So. Be careful what you say, and you will see what a difference a wholesome tongue can make in your life. DB.
